PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION
To ensure that all machines and equipment are kept in a good and reliable condition, for maximum production at lowest electrical & mechanical downtime. Overall responsibility for the electrical & mechanical maintenance and repairs on machines and buildings. Will be required to be available after hours and on standby as and when the situation calls for it.
JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Panning and Productivity
- Ensure that maintenance on machines, equipment and buildings are performed on a continuous basis and to the right quality standard.
- Responsible for shutdown work and electrical/mechanical maintenance on machines.
- Responsible for permanent corrective actions in the event of breakdowns.
- Developing inventory lists and ensuring spares are made available.
- Repairs of any damage or faults found.
- Attend to breakdowns on machines as soon as possible.
- Service and repair electric motors where needed.
- Inspect and repair any faults / hot connections on the electrical reticulation system.
- Inspect and replace any mechanical components that are worn or not functioning correclt, i.e. belts, pulleys, bearings, gears, shafts, etc
- Develop and execute preventative maintenance schedules on electrical/mechanical equipment.
- Assist in changeovers of machines between different products.
- Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or replace parts as needed
Health and Safety
- All electrical/mechanical installation work that is undertaken must meet accepted electrical/mechanical standards and to comply at all times with the OSH Act.
- Maintain and update legislated registers as required by law i.e. Portable Electrical Equipment, Earth Leakages etc.
- Test electrical systems and components to ensure proper functioning
- Calibrate equipment to provided specifications
- Complete required documentation of repairs and service information as well as job cards
Safety and Risk Management
- Identification and reporting of potential risks or issues concerning machines, equipment or personnel that could cause financial or operational damage.
- Responsible for the integrity of all electrical/mechanical safety devices used on all machines and equipment.
- Responsible for good housekeeping and safe working environment in the electrical/mechanical workshop.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- 1 to 2 years related working experience within a Manufacturing domain.
- Minimum Qualification: Millwright Trade test certification
- Ideal Qualification: Millwright Trade test certification
REQUIREMENTS - EXPERIENCE
- Have excellent communication skills
- Have a sound technical and multidisciplinary knowledge of the plant and process.
- Have a sound knowledge of the OSH Act and Regulations
- Have good knowledge of pumps (centrifugal, PDP, multistage, split casing, vacuum, etc) including stripping, repair and replacement
- Have good knowledge of gearboxes, pipes, hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, seals, etc. This includes stripping, repair and replacement.
- Have good knowledge of agitators, pulpers, refiners including stripping, repair and replacement.
- Have good knowledge and practical skills on general machine shop work (centre lathe, milling machine, etc)
- Have good knowledge of motor fitment and coupling alignment including pulley and belt fitment
- Have good knowledge of roll repair and replacement
- Must be proficient in Siemens S5 and S7 PLC’s, DC drives and AC drives and variable frequency drives.
- Knowledge of different type of sensors, pneumatics and AC drives.
- Electrical fault finding with the aid of schematic diagrams.
- Ability to take responsibility and accountability as per his scope of work
- Working knowledge of scalar systems would be beneficial

Pay: R16 000,00 - R20 000,00 per month
