Junior Sous Chef
We are seeking a Junior Sous Chef who is driven by passion for the culinary arts, possesses exceptional interpersonal skills, and thrives in a high-paced environment. Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum qualification of Grade 12 (or equivalent NQF 4 certificate) required.
- 6 months of formal chef's training.
- At least 5 years' experience as Chef De Partie in a 4*/5* environment.
- Experience in fine dining establishments is essential.
- Knowledge of food ordering and costing.
- Computer literacy, specifically in MS Office.
- A Chefs Diploma, HACCP certification, and working knowledge of SAP will be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Food Delivery and Guest Interaction:
- Ensure the delivery of top-quality food to guests, maintaining high standards of presentation and taste.
- Engage with guests when required, addressing any concerns or special requests promptly and courteously.
- Assist in menu planning, incorporating creativity and innovation to enhance guest experiences.
2. Food Cost Management:
- Monitor and maintain food expenses within budgetary constraints.
- Control portion sizes effectively to optimize cost efficiency without compromising quality.
3. Staff Management:
- Lead and supervise kitchen staff, providing performance feedback, training, motivation, and discipline as necessary.
- Develop and maintain optimal staff rosters and assist in recruitment efforts when required.
4. Stock Control:
- Maintain par stock levels to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Conduct daily ordering of food and equipment supplies, adhering to inventory management protocols.
- Conduct regular food and equipment counts to track inventory levels accurately.
5. Cross-Functional Integration:
- Facilitate interdepartmental communication to anticipate and ensure guest satisfaction.
- Attend function sheet meetings and collaborate with other departments to coordinate seamless guest experiences.
