Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on all block making plant equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and structural faults with minimal production downtime
- Perform fabrication work including welding, gas cutting, fitting, and steel fabrication
- Maintain maintenance logs, job cards, and downtime records
- Monitor and manage critical spare parts inventory
- Liaise with suppliers and technical service providers regarding parts and repairs
- Supervise production operations in the absence of the Plant Manager
- Ensure production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are maintained
- Enforce compliance with health and safety procedures including lockout/tagout, hot work, and PPE requirements
- Identify and recommend plant reliability and maintenance improvements
Minimum Requirements
Essential
- Qualified Boilermaker
- Minimum 3 years’ post-trade experience in heavy industrial plant maintenance
- Proven experience working on PMSA, Birkenmeier, or similar concrete block making machinery
- Strong welding, fabrication, fitting, and gas cutting skills
- Good understanding of hydraulic systems
- Basic understanding of electrical and electronic plant systems
- Ability to work independently and respond effectively under production pressure
- Must be of sober habits
Advantageous
- Experience supervising or leading a production team
- Exposure to concrete products manufacturing environments
- Understanding of PLC or automated control systems
- Experience with maintenance management or job card systems
- Ability to communicate in isiZulu is advantageous
- Valid Code 8 driver’s licence

Working Conditions
- Physically demanding role within an active manufacturing plant
- Exposure to hot, dusty, noisy, and industrial working conditions
- Work may involve heights and confined spaces
- After-hours and weekend callouts may be required for critical breakdowns
- Full PPE compliance is mandatory
Pay: From R20 000,00 per month
