Job Title: General Manager
Reports To: Regional Manager / Franchise Owner
Job Summary
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Spur restaurant, ensuring exceptional customer service, efficient staff management, and strong financial performance. This role requires leadership, operational expertise, and a passion for delivering a high-quality dining experience in line with Spur’s brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operations Management
- Oversee day-to-day restaurant operations, ensuring smooth service delivery.
- Maintain Spur brand standards, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor food quality, presentation, and hygiene standards.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
2. Staff Management
- Recruit, train, and develop staff members.
- Schedule shifts and manage staff attendance.
- Motivate and lead the team to achieve performance targets.
- Handle employee relations, discipline, and performance reviews.
3. Customer Service
- Ensure excellent customer service and guest satisfaction at all times.
- Address customer complaints promptly and professionally.
- Create a welcoming and family-friendly environment.
4. Financial Management
- Manage budgets, costs, and profitability.
- Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to drive revenue.
- Control food, labour, and operational costs.
- Handle cash management, stock control, and reporting.
5. Inventory & Supply Chain
- Oversee stock ordering, receiving, and storage.
- Conduct regular stock counts and minimize wastage.
- Maintain relationships with suppliers.
6. Marketing & Sales
- Implement local marketing initiatives to attract customers.
- Support promotional campaigns and special events.
- Build community relationships to enhance brand presence.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Restaurant Manager or General Manager (preferably in a franchise environment).
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Solid understanding of financial management and reporting.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible working hours, including weekends and holidays.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 / Matric (required)
- Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management or related field (preferred)
