PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Land Surveyor will be responsible for carrying out all surveying activities associated with roads, stormwater, civil engineering, and municipal infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will establish survey control, perform topographical and engineering surveys, provide accurate setting out for construction works, verify quantities, and ensure compliance with project specifications, legislation, and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Conduct topographical, engineering, cadastral, and as-built surveys.
· Establish and maintain horizontal and vertical survey control networks.
· Set out roads, intersections, stormwater pipelines, culverts, channels, retaining structures, and associated civil works.
· Verify construction levels, coordinates, alignments, and dimensions.
· Produce survey reports, drawings, and digital terrain models.
· Process survey data using approved surveying software.
· Generate contour plans, longitudinal sections and cross-sections.
· Prepare survey calculations and coordinate schedules.
· Carry out quantity verification and support progress measurement.
· Conduct quality control, deformation and settlement monitoring where required.
· Prepare as-built survey documentation.
· Liaise with engineers, contractors, consultants and municipal officials.
· Maintain survey equipment and calibration records.
· Ensure compliance with OHSA requirements and survey standards.
Minimum Requirements
· National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics or equivalent.
· Registration with the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC) or eligibility for registration.
· Minimum 5 years' experience on roads, stormwater and civil infrastructure projects.
· Experience on municipal, provincial or SANRAL projects will be advantageous.
