We are seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Costing Clerk to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurate costing, supplier engagement, and ensuring materials are ordered in line with operational requirements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain costing records for maintenance works, projects, and other work orders.
- Supplier engagement: Phone suppliers to obtain pricing and source competitive quotes.
- Prepare quotations in line with client contract rates.
- Prepare purchase orders in line with work order requirements.
- Ensure materials are accurately ordered in line with stock levels.
- Ensure detailed job costing (materials, labour, travel).
- Verify accuracy of information on job cards and supporting documentation against supplier purchase orders.
- Capture and reconcile data in Sage Accounting software.
- Liaise with operations and finance teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Provide regular costing reports to management.
Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12) with accounting or finance subjects.
- Relevant diploma or certificate in finance/costing (advantageous).
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in a costing or finance role.
- Proficiency in Sage Accounting software and MS Excel (Non-negotiable).
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, including confidence in phoning suppliers.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Ability to work under pressure and urgency to meet deadlines.
