Dynamic manufacturer in Midrand is recruiting a Turner / Refurbish person that will work alongside maintenance staff to ensure that equipment are maintained and operational.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain existing equipment and systems:

Fit, assemble, grind and shape metal parts and subassemblies to fabricate production machines and other equipment

Interpret engineering drawings, set up machines, select appropriate cutting tools, and monitor the machining process to ensure precision and quality.

Perform tasks like measuring and inspecting finished parts, making adjustments to machine settings, and performing routine maintenance on the equipment.

Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.

Do all preventatve maintenance according to the job cards issued by the maintenance planner.

Report any other equipment that needs a job card to the maintenance planner to ensure that the job card is created for the machine.
Inspect, troubleshoot and repair equipment and machinery:

Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.

Know the machnes.
-
Know how to operate the machine to test the machine and to make sure that all functions on the machine are functioning as the design specified.
-
Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools. Equipment Maintenance – Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.

Repair or replace defective equipment parts using correct hand tools and power tools and reassemble equipment.

Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs, as necessary.

Do fault fnding on the plant as quick as possible to reduce downtimes.

Keep all manuals and drawings up to date. If any modification is done in the plant fill in the plant change note, modify the drawings and insert any technical information into the manuals.

Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.

Use the correct lfting equipment with the correct SWL when handling equipment.
Support the maintenance and production to ensure sustainability:

Meet with the maintenance and production foremen and staff to discuss breakdowns and issues experienced in the plant.

Communcating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates, Provding information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.

Making Decisions and Solving Problems, analysing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

Getting Information, Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.

Communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.

Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or mechanical equipment.
-
Do practcal on-the-job training in the plants.
-
Do theoretical training in the training centre.
Admin, measure and reporting:
-
Record maintenance and repair work performed and the costs of the work.
-
Complete all job cards from the mantenance planner with all the details required to track maintenance and cost.

Record all work required and completed on the Preventative Maintenance platform
Requirements:
-
Qualified Fitter and Turner / Turner
-
N3 and above or Matric / Grade 12
-
At least 4 years’ exprience in a manufacturing / engineering or mining enviroment
-
Able to interpret engineering drawings
-
Own vehicle
-
Residing in a radius of 20 kilometres from the Midrand area
-
Good communication skills
