The Department of Local Government, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to conduct assessments and investigations into allegations of fraud, theft, corruption and maladministration reported to the department.
An appropriate 3 year B-Degree equivalent or higher qualification in Forensics / Commerce/ Law/ Auditing; A minimum of 3 years relevant management experience in investigations; A valid (Code B or higher) driving licence. NB: People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities, but who have reasonable access to transport, may also apply.
Experience in the following Local Government law, administrative law and forensic investigations; Conducting investigations into economic crime within the public sector; A professional designation relevant to the forensic profession.
Case/Project planning and conducting investigations; Case closure and finalisation; Liaise with stakeholders; Performance and information management and reporting; Manage the operation of the sub-directorate.
Knowledge of the following: Applicable policies, acts, prescripts, legislation and procedures; Interpretation of legislation; Skills needed: Research, analysis and application of legislation; Analytical thinking; Interviewing skills and ability to take statements during investigations.
All-inclusive salary package of R 849 702 per annum (Salary Level 11)
Note on remuneration: to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. These candidates will be required to attend interviews and a practical on a date and time determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments/proficiency tests. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
