Job description
Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. Operational Oversight & Process Adherence
Enforce Machine & Tool Protocols: Ensure proper setup and shutdown procedures are strictly followed for high-value equipment, including the CNC Machine, HVLP spray guns, and all processing tools.
Monitor Curing & Timing Constraints: Strictly enforce time-sensitive operations, such as the 30-minute cure time for glued panels and the 2-hour cure time for painted items.
Oversee Production Files: Verify that operators are using the correct NC files for CNC operations to prevent material waste.
Manage End-of-Day Shutdown: Conduct final walkthroughs to ensure all saws, spray tools, and CNC machines are powered down, cleaned, and that the workspace is clear of debris.
Troubleshooting: Act as the immediate point of contact when machinery malfunctions or process interruptions occur.
2. Quality Assurance & Defect Management
Handle Defect Escalations: Receive and act on immediate reports regarding material defects, cutting issues, or misalignments across all stations.
Verify In-Line Quality Checks: Spot-check that operators are performing required in-line checks, such as measuring the first part of every batch for dimensional accuracy.
Approve Acceptance Criteria: Ensure finished goods meet specific standards before moving to the next stage, including verifying 45° mitre cuts on channels, checking vinyl welds for continuous execution, and checking specific component sequences.
Monitor Paint Quality: Ensure painting teams achieve uniform coverage without drips or runs, and that no unapproved surfaces are painted erroneously.
3. Material, Inventory & Receiving Control
Receiving & Imports: Oversee the safe receiving of raw materials and the offloading/processing of import containers.
Stock Counting & Control: Conduct regular, structured stock counts and inventory reconciliations to maintain accuracy.
Stock Replenishment: Monitor and manage the availability of critical consumables (such as paint, adhesives, and vinyl roll stock), ensuring replenishment requests are reported to the buyer/planner before stock-outs occur.
Waste Management: Monitor the usage of raw materials to minimize scrap and support efforts to minimize waste.
System & Document Verification: Ensure materials match job orders generated from MRPeasy and that operators are verifying physical dimensions against job sheets.
Traceability: Enforce the tracking and labeling system, ensuring all cut, painted, and glued parts are tagged with job numbers, batch codes, and cure times.
4. Team Leadership, Safety & Maintenance
Tool & Equipment Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of tools and workshop equipment to ensure safety, accountability, and functional reliability.
Team Management & Scheduling: Allocate staff to specific stations (e.g., CNC, Gluing, Assembly) based on daily production targets and employee skill levels.
Safety (HSE) Compliance: Strictly enforce the use of required PPE (gloves, goggles, ear protection, respirators) and conduct regular safety toolbox talks to maintain compliance with health and safety standards.
Training & Onboarding: Train new operators on specific SOPs, ensuring they understand how to safely operate the CNC machine, cutting tools, and workshop equipment.
Maintenance Coordination: Schedule preventative maintenance for the CNC router, spray guns, and other equipment to ensure blade sharpness and nozzle cleanliness.
Documentation & Performance Review: Audit daily production logs (including painting times, batch codes, and machine hours), log/investigate abnormalities or safety incidents, and continuously look for process efficiency gains.
