Lomeza Group (Pty) Ltd is looking for a passionate and goal driven Blaster, who will be based at Northern Cape Hotazel area. The qualified and suitable candidates applying for this position should meet the below minimum requirements.
Requirements
· Grade 12.
· Blasting Certificate.
· Competency A Certificate.
· Knowledge of Opencast Mining.
· National Rock Breaking Certificate for Opencast.
· Code 8 or 10 driver’s license.
· 3 years’ experience in hard rock opencast blasting.
· OHS Training will be advantageous.
· Understanding of MHSA regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
· Identify the correct method of blasting and required explosives.
· Manage blasting crew at the working area.
· Identify and control Hazards.
· Complete blast reports.
· Work with mine personnel on safety and quality issues.
· Attend meetings when necessary.
· Oversee charging of holes and blasting of block.
· Draw explosives from magazine.
· Transport explosives to blasting area.
· Measure and prime holes.
· Supervise blasting team closing holes.
· Tie up of blast.
· Placing of guards for blasting.
· Pre and Post blast Inspection of blast.
· Ability to identify and control misfires.
· Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
· Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to co-ordinate blasting activities.
· Monitor and inspect blast sites to ensure compliance with safety standards
· Keep accurate records of blasting activities and inventory of explosives
· Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in blasting techniques.
· Ensure safe destruction of or safe transportation of unused explosives.

- High School (matric) (Preferred)
Experience:
- Hard Rock Opencast Blasting: 3 years (Required)
License/Certification:
- Blasting Certificate (Required)
- Competency A Certificate (Required)
- National Rock Breaking Certificate for Opencast (Required)
- Code 8 or 10 driver’s license (Preferred)
