We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Coordinator to join our Education Faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the placement of students in Grade R classrooms across South Africa, ensuring they gain valuable practical experience that complements their academic studies.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in education, preferably with a focus on early childhood or Foundation Phase education; a master’s degree is an advantage.
- 3-5 years of experience in educational coordination, particularly in work-integrated learning or student placements.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the South African education system, especially in relation to Grade R teaching.
- Proven experience in building and managing partnerships with schools and educational institutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies for student placements in Grade R classrooms nationwide.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with primary schools to secure diverse placement opportunities.
- Coordinate and manage logistics for WIL placements, including timelines, student allocations, and site monitoring.
- Provide orientation, mentoring, and ongoing support to students during their placements.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and resolve issues.
- Work closely with academic staff to integrate WIL into the curriculum, ensuring alignment with educational guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with South African educational regulations and report on student placements and outcomes.
- Engage with stakeholders, including school principals, teachers, and educational authorities, to maintain and expand WIL partnerships.
- Implement quality assurance processes to ensure high standards in practical training.
- Manage administrative tasks related to WIL placements, including documentation and reporting.

- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to mentor and support students in practical learning environments.
- Proficiency in educational technology and online learning management systems.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements in South African higher education.
