PACKAGING WORLD has a vacancy for a Receiving Quality Assurance Inspector. This position is based in Westmead, Pinetown, Durban.
The successful incumbent will be expected to perform the following duties, not limited to:
- Conducting checks on all incoming materials received from suppliers and to verify the material planned and issued for production jobs to ensure the treatment is adequate, material width and micron is correct. To conduct various Quality Inspection checks will be required depending on the customer
- Ensure that each delivery is checked against the Incoming Inspection on Raw Materials and Consumables checklist and the sampling done as per the sampling method table
- Verify the material condition, size, micron, treatment and anti-mist on receiving and also when issuing materials to the production jobs.
- When doing Shelf Life extension checks on aged materials, you need to ensure that you have a sample, that it is identified and that the Shelf Life Extensions form is completed for approval.
- Ensure that the filing of these records are done in a way that you can easily retrieve the information for traceability purposes.
- Should material not be to specification, then an Internal NCR must be raised and the Quality Manager or Factory Manager will make a decision if the material can be used on Concession or if a Supplier NCR will be issued to return the material to the Supplier
- From time to time, specific lab testing will be required on specific materials that we receive from suppliers to verify the actual against the specification.
- Blade Management in the lab
- Raising internal NCR’s for non-conforming materials
- Ensuring equipment in your care is managed and in good order (micrometer, measuring tape, lab equipment)
- Housekeeping in lab
- Check that the label on the reels matches the Jobcard for traceability
- Any task that the Quality Manager and Senior Managers may request you to perform from time to time that may be outside of your duties and responsibilities
Qualification and Experience Requirements:
- Printing experience required.
- Grade 12
- Relevant Quality qualifications
- Proven experience in material checking
- At least 2 years in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of BRC Audits and Quality Audits
- Required to work shifts
