Role Purpose
To ensure efficient, compliant, and resilient management of DENIS office facilities. The role oversees building infrastructure, service providers, and business continuity to support uninterrupted operations and a safe, high-performing workplace.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities & Building Operations
- Oversee day-to-day facilities operations within a commercial office environment
- Manage building systems including HVAC, electrical, lifts, backup power, fire and access control
- Coordinate maintenance, repairs, preventative programmes, and service requests
- Manage soft services (cleaning and security) to ensure consistent service delivery
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements
Business Continuity & Risk
- Develop, maintain and test Facilities Business Continuity Plans
- Identify risks and implement mitigation and recovery strategies
- Ensure facilities infrastructure supports operational resilience
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Source, negotiate, and manage contractors and service providers
- Monitor performance against SLAs and contractual agreements
Space & Asset Management
- Coordinate floor plans and manage space planning, including office reconfiguration to optimise utilisation
- Maintain asset registers and facilities documentation
- Ensure statutory records, certifications, and compliance documentation are up to date
Financial Management
- Monitor facilities costs and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Support budget management and expenditure control
Leadership
- Lead and manage facilities and support staff
- Drive service excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement
Requirements
- Degree/Diploma in Facilities Management, Property Studies, Built Environment, Operations Management or a related field
- Solid understanding of building systems (HVAC, electrical, lifts, backup power, fire and access control)
- 5–8 years’ experience in commercial office building or facilities management
- Experience managing service providers and vendor contracts
- Knowledge of health & safety, compliance, and risk management
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Must have own reliable transport and valid South African driver’s licence
Advantageous:
- Engineering qualification (Mechanical/Electrical)
- Professional or health & safety certifications
