Job Purpose
The Hotel Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of the hotel's buildings, facilities, equipment, and grounds. The role ensures that all hotel assets are maintained to the highest operational, safety, and aesthetic standards, providing a safe and comfortable environment for guests and employees.
Key ResponsibilitiesPreventative Maintenance
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules.
- Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, plant rooms, and hotel facilities.
- Ensure maintenance tasks are completed according to schedule.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and service logs.
Repairs and Maintenance
- Supervise and perform repairs to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, tiling, air conditioning, and general building infrastructure.
- Coordinate urgent repairs to minimise disruption to guests.
- Troubleshoot maintenance issues and identify root causes.
- Ensure hotel equipment remains in safe working condition.
Team Supervision
- Supervise maintenance technicians and external contractors.
- Allocate daily maintenance tasks and monitor completion.
- Train and mentor maintenance staff.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching where required.
Contractor Management
- Coordinate specialist contractors for servicing and repairs.
- Monitor contractor performance and compliance with hotel policies.
- Verify quality of work before approving completion.
- Ensure contractors comply with health and safety requirements.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation and hotel safety standards.
- Conduct regular safety inspections.
- Monitor fire safety equipment and emergency systems.
- Ensure statutory inspections and certifications remain current.
- Report hazards and implement corrective actions.
Asset Management
- Monitor maintenance budgets and control expenditure.
- Maintain inventory of tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies.
- Source quotations for repairs and replacement equipment.
- Recommend capital improvements and equipment replacement where necessary.
Guest Service
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests affecting guest comfort.
- Minimise downtime and inconvenience to guests.
- Support hotel operations during special events and peak occupancy periods.
Administration
- Maintain maintenance schedules, job cards, and compliance documentation.
- Prepare maintenance reports for management.
- Monitor energy consumption and identify opportunities for cost savings.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Trade qualification (Electrical, Plumbing, Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, Millwright, or similar) preferred.
- Minimum 5 years' maintenance experience.
- At least 2 years' supervisory experience.
- Experience within the hospitality industry is advantageous.
- Valid driver's licence.
Pay: R8 000,00 - R12 000,00 per month
