Job Summary
We are looking for an individual with proven success planning, design, and optimizing open-pit mining operations with a professional designation e.g Pr.Eng (Professional Engineer) or equivalent. This individual will be handling end-to-end duties for the Engineering and Operations department and reporting to the Mine Manager (3.1 appointee).
Key Responsibilities
Holding and executing legal accountability under a 2.13.1 legal appointment in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) to ensure strict operational safety compliance.
Managing safety performance and implementing risk-mitigation strategies across all engineering activities to maintain a zero-harm environment including approvals of contractors’ pack
Overseeing mining equipment optimization, ensuring the high availability, reliability, and cost effective utilization of fixed and mobile assets.
Drafting and managing equipment maintenance regime and liaising with OEM’s, scheduling preventive maintenance for machinery and minimizing downtime
Managing the mobile equipment fleet, yellow machines such as excavators, dump trucks, dozers, drill rigs, LDV’s etc.
Safety, Tons and Costs (STC) are achieved at all times.
Requirements
Qualification and professional designation as a certificated Engineer, with Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 5–7 years experience with proven track record in managing yellow machines (CAT) and safety compliance systems and a valid Government Certificate of Competency (GCC).
Must undergone medical fitness test
Reside in Mpumalanga or Johannesburg (Preferably)
