Purpose is to ensure the efficient receipt, storage, control, and issuing of cleaning chemicals, hygiene consumables, equipment, and related stock. The Storeman is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring stock availability, and supporting operational requirements while adhering to health and safety standards.
Summary of responsibilities:
Inventory and Stock Control
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Store stock in designated areas according to company procedures and safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate stock records and update inventory systems.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and assist with monthly stock takes.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages, damages, or discrepancies.
- Ensure stock is rotated according to FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles.
Issuing of Stock
- Pick, pack, and issue stock to sites, departments, and employees as required.
- Ensure all stock issued is accurately recorded.
- Prepare orders for delivery and collection.
- Maintain proper documentation for all stock movements.
Warehouse and Housekeeping
- Keep the storeroom clean, organized, and secure at all times.
- Ensure chemicals and hazardous materials are stored in accordance with safety regulations and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Maintain proper labeling of stock and storage locations.
- Ensure equipment and tools are stored safely and are readily available.
Health and Safety
- Adhere to company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report unsafe conditions, damaged stock, or incidents immediately.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with ISO, food safety, and customer requirements where applicable.
Administration
- Maintain accurate filing of delivery notes, issue slips, and stock records.
- Prepare stock reports when required.
- Assist with investigating stock variances and discrepancies.
- Liaise with suppliers, procurement, and operations personnel regarding stock requirements.
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- A qualification in Stores and Warehouse Management will be advantageous.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a stores, warehouse, or inventory control environment.
- Experience within the hygiene, cleaning, FMCG, or manufacturing industry will be advantageous.
- Experience working with stock management systems.
