Canteen Supervisor
Cape Town
An exciting opportunity awaits a dynamic, energetic, and experienced Canteen Supervisor to oversee the management of our employee canteen facility.
As our Canteen Supervisor, you will ensure that the canteen is ready for service at stated times for breakfast, lunch and dinner, providing food and service to hotel employees in the canteen. Aside from this, you will also ensure that sufficient eating equipment and food items are available to staff and that the cleaning process is followed according to standard operating procedures.
Part of your responsibilities will include ensuring that employees correctly separate waste, that the canteen area is environmentally friendly, and that the correct cleaning chemicals are used when cleaning. This role will also involve clear communication with relevant managers and ensuring that the canteen area is clean, neat, and comfortable.
You will lead a team of people, encouraging teamwork and personal accountability and thereby promoting staff engagement and retention. You will also manage and train all canteen staff. Your duties will include managing staff processes such as personal presentation, recruitment, performance, and conduct and the daily canteen operations, including stock ordering and control, canteen preparation, cleaning and hygiene protocols, and service.
This role involves reporting all maintenance, food, and logistics issues to the head chef and collaborating with the head chef and sous chefs to develop menus and specials for the canteen.
Along with your Matric Certificate, you have a qualification from a recognised South African or International Educational Institution and at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role in a busy, up-market restaurant.
You have a track record leading and managing a team as well as a background in using technology including micros / speed point machine, MS 365. You are flexible and able to work shifts and have your own transport.
You possess a strong devotion to quality and have effectively honed your skills in structuring and directing projects. Your experience in team building and leadership management ensures that you inspire and guide your colleagues toward shared goals. With a service-oriented approach, you excel at analysing situations and forming well-informed opinions. Additionally, you are adept at working independently and using your initiative to drive results.
