Job Overview:
A Junior Accountant is responsible for assisting in maintaining and managing financial records, ensuring the accuracy of financial documents, and preparing reports. Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Record Maintenance:
- Record day-to-day financial transactions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledgers and journals.
- Assist with bank reconciliations and ensure discrepancies are resolved.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Process invoices, payments, and receipts.
- Assist with tracking outstanding accounts and ensuring timely payments.
- Manage vendor and customer account records.
- Assisting in Month-End and Year-End Close:
- Help with the preparation of month-end closing reports and financial statements.
- Support senior accountants with year-end audits and financial statement preparation.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Financial Analysis and Reporting:
- Support with budget tracking and variance analysis.
- Assist with the preparation of internal reports for management review.
- Compile financial data and reports to help senior accountants make decisions.
- Tax and Compliance:
- Assist with VAT, tax, and other statutory submissions.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.
- Administrative Tasks:
- Maintain organized and accurate filing systems for financial records.
- Support in managing petty cash and expense reports.
- Assist in any ad hoc financial projects or tasks as required by management.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 0-2 years of relevant work experience, internships, or co-op programs in accounting or finance.
- Software Knowledge: Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Xero) and proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data and provide meaningful insights.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial data.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with team members and reporting financial information.
