We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance in a trading or manufacturing environment. This role requires a strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, and taxation in relation to trading and/or manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Accounting:
- Maintain general ledger and ensure accurate accounting for all transactions.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
- Conduct monthly account reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
- Cost Accounting (Manufacturing-specific):
- Track and analyze production costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead.
- Prepare cost analysis reports and advise management on cost-saving strategies.
- Monitor and reconcile inventory transactions and ensure proper valuation of stock.
- Taxation and Compliance:
- Prepare and file VAT/GST, income tax, and other statutory returns on time.
- Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and assist in tax audits.
- Liaise with external auditors and tax consultants to ensure proper documentation and filings.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
- Analyze budget variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide financial insights to management for decision-making and strategy development.
- Financial Controls & Process Improvement:
- Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Continuously review and improve accounting processes and systems.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
- Inventory Management (Trading-specific):
- Monitor inventory levels and perform periodic inventory counts.
- Ensure accuracy in inventory valuation and track stock movements.
- Reconcile inventory discrepancies and coordinate with the warehouse team.
- Cash Flow & Working Capital Management:
- Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring the company has sufficient liquidity.
- Optimize working capital by efficiently managing payables and receivables.
- Assist in treasury functions, including loan management and foreign exchange transactions.
- Financial Analysis & Reporting:
- Analyze financial performance, including profitability, liquidity, and cost efficiency.
- Prepare management reports to provide insights into financial performance and key business metrics.
- Conduct variance analysis between actual and budgeted financial results.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA/CA qualification is preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a trading or manufacturing company.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, taxation, and financial reporting.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Tally, SAP, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of cost accounting and inventory management in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ERP systems in a trading or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with local tax regulations and compliance.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.

Pay: R130 000,00 - R150 000,00 per month
