Position: Kitchen Assistant
- Location: Stikland, Cape Town
- Reporting to: Kitchen Supervisor
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of food, meals and beverages in accordance with menu requirements and special orders.
- Follow recipes and instructions from the Kitchen Supervisor to ensure consistency and quality.
- Ensure the kitchen, including all ancillary areas, is kept clean and hygienic at all times.
- Wash dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment promptly and thoroughly.
- Assist with receiving, unpacking, and storing deliveries of food and supplies.
- Dispose of waste in a safe and sanitary manner.
- Comply with health and safety regulations and best practices at all times.
- Support the kitchen team with any other duties as required.
Requirements
- Minimum education: Matric (Grade 11).
- Fluent in English (speak, read, and write). Ability to communicate in Afrikaans is beneficial.
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is essential.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong attention to hygiene and cleanliness.
- Willingness to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts, and availability for night shifts essential.
- Must have access to reliable transport to and from work.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and move/lift kitchen items as required.
- Candidates must be of sober habits and consistently demonstrate honesty and integrity.
- Candidates must maintain good personal hygiene.
