The National Sea Rescue Institute is seeking to appoint an experienced Training Assistant to assist the training team with assessing, practically implementing and maintaining a high standard for both classroom based theoretical training courses as well practical training. This is a full time, Cape Town based position, where working hours are not structured on a typical Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm cycle.
The NSRI has 50+ stations, satellite stations and Lifeguard premises across a volunteer network spanning 1500+ volunteers.
- Matric or equivalent
- Relevant qualification / Training courses.
- Must have familiarised themselves with the NSRI eLearning Academy, to assist volunteer crew to use the learning tool effectively.
- A class 4 Coxswain ticket, or equivalent is required,
- A valid driver’s license (preferably code EB or higher).
- 2 years’ service at Sea Rescue or in a similar marine-based organization with experience in practical marine training.
- Character traits should include enthusiasm, integrity, patience, self-control, loyalty, confidentiality and a positive outlook on life.
- The incumbent will be responsible for the logistic and support functions towards the running of various courses.
- The incumbent will be required to assist the emergency operations centre as and when required.
- This position requires flexibility, and training is scheduled on weekends and after hours.
- This position involves extensive travelling to stations nationwide to evaluate, assess and mentor volunteers.
- This is a development role, with the successful candidate expected to progress into an operations and training officer role with experience, and qualifications.
