Meat Manufacturer, based in Pinetown, requires a Maintenance Manager, who will be responsible for the maintenance management of two sites, equipment, machinery, and vehicles. Driving high-performance culture in the maintenance team to ensure efficient service delivery to the business. The role reports to the operations director.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Relevant tertiary Qualification
- At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably meat industry experience
- Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and general maintenance practices
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good understanding of food safety standards
- Strong Leadership abilities and organizational skills, thinks out of the box and able to drive change
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail in areas of work
- Strong Operational/Technical Knowledge
- Hands-on problem-solving approach and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Work with honesty and integrity
Key Performance Areas:
- Routine Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and ensure that preventive maintenance on facilities, including, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical systems, and structural components are done by allocating jobs and setting deadlines with Maintenance Team.
- Development of procedures for the execution of job cards and issuing of consumables and spares eliminating wasted expenditure/time and non-productivity.
- Repairs: Diagnose and repair issues with equipment, machinery, and building systems to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
- Publication and communication of the Preventative Maintenance Plan for both sites
- adherence to plan (% achieved on an activity basis).
- Company Fleet: Ensuring that technicians are servicing and maintaining company vehicles to ensure that we have roadworthy vehicles on deliveries.
- reduction of breakdown spend vs. Preventative maintenance spend
- Implementation of Preventative Maintenance Plan for Fleet of Vehicles
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and regulations while performing maintenance tasks, promoting a safe workplace.
- Achievement of FSA and HACCP certifications
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and inventory of supplies.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels of maintenance supplies and tools, ordering materials as necessary to ensure readiness for tasks.
- developing and maintaining a critical spares list and opening a maintenance stores
- conducting monthly maintenance spares and tools stocktakes.
- Collaboration: Work with other team members and departments to coordinate maintenance efforts and address service requests promptly.
- Service Delivery: Provide effective and efficient service delivery to the operations teams on both sites,addressing their maintenance concerns and requests
