About the Role:
A7 Health is seeking a qualified Psychologist to form part of our multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will provide evidence-based psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to support the mental health and wellbeing of our patients.
As an independent practitioner within our practice, you will deliver exceptional clinical care, contribute to collaborative patient management, and support the ongoing development of innovative health services and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Services:
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments.
- Diagnose psychological conditions within your scope of practice.
- Develop and implement individualised, evidence-based treatment plans for children, adolescents, and adults (as applicable).
- Manage patients presenting with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, stress/burnout, relationship difficulties, adjustment disorders, behavioural concerns, and chronic pain or health-related psychological challenges.
- Monitor patient progress and adapt treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
Multidisciplinary Care & Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with GPs and other healthcare practitioners within the practice.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions when appropriate (with patient consent).
- Manage internal and external referral pathways to ensure integrated management plans for patients with complex healthcare needs.
Clinical Governance & Administration:
- Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical records (completing notes on the day of consultation where reasonably practicable).
- Obtain informed consent and maintain strict patient confidentiality in line with legal, ethical, and professional standards.
- Identify and appropriately manage patients requiring urgent intervention or crisis referral.
- Prepare high-quality reports, referral letters, and supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate billing and coding in accordance with practice processes.
Practice Development:
- Foster positive relationships with patients and referring practitioners.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to patient education resources, workshops, or presentations where appropriate.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s degree in Psychology (Essential).
- Registration: Current registration as an Independent Practice Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) (Essential).
- Insurance: Valid professional indemnity insurance (Essential).
- Experience (Preferred): Prior experience in private practice and working within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment. Experience managing chronic health conditions, pain, trauma, or anxiety disorders is highly advantageous.
