Working Hours and Site Attendance
The Junior IT Technician will be responsible for attending client sites from 07:30 to 15:30, Monday to Friday, as assigned by Pro-IT MSP.
When onsite work is not required, the Junior IT Technician may be required to assist with remote support, Freshdesk tickets, documentation, device preparation, or other office-based technical tasks.
Position Summary
The Junior IT Technician is responsible for assisting with daily IT support, onsite client visits, remote support, basic network troubleshooting, Microsoft 365 support, device setup, documentation, and general technical tasks for Pro-IT MSP clients.
This role is mainly focused on first-line support, routine support tasks, documentation, and assisting senior technicians with more advanced technical issues.
Key Responsibilities1. Helpdesk and User Support
- Attend to Freshdesk support tickets assigned by the Senior IT Technician or MSP Owner.
- Provide first-line support to users via phone, email, remote support, and onsite visits.
- Assist users with Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, printers, Wi-Fi, and general computer issues.
- Use AnyDesk or other approved remote support tools to assist users.
- Escalate complex issues to the Senior IT Technician when required.
- Keep tickets updated with clear notes, actions taken, and final resolution.
2. Microsoft 365 and Cloud Support
- Assist with basic Microsoft 365 user administration.
- Help set up and troubleshoot Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint access.
- Assist with password resets and MFA support.
- Help users connect email accounts on Windows, Mac, and mobile devices.
- Report suspicious login activity or account issues to the Senior IT Technician.
3. Network and Wi-Fi Support
- Assist with basic network troubleshooting at client sites.
- Check internet connectivity, cabling, switches, access points, and Wi-Fi coverage.
- Assist with UniFi, Ruijie/Reyee, TP-Link, Meraki, Sophos, and pfSense environments under supervision.
- Help install and label network equipment.
- Assist with basic Wi-Fi setup, testing, and client device connectivity.
4. Device Setup and Support
- Set up new laptops, desktops, printers, mobile devices, and user accounts.
- Install approved software and security tools.
- Join devices to the correct environment where required.
- Assist with antivirus checks, Windows updates, and basic device cleanup.
- Prepare devices for new users and assist with handovers.
5. Documentation
- Document work completed on Freshdesk tickets.
- Update client documentation when changes are made.
- Record device names, IP addresses, network layouts, cabling changes, and site notes.
- Take clear photos of installations, cabinets, labels, and completed work when required.
6. Onsite Work
- Attend assigned client sites from 07:30 to 15:30, Monday to Friday.
- Assist with onsite troubleshooting, installations, maintenance, and user support.
- Follow client site rules and maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
- Report arrival, progress, and completion updates to the Senior IT Technician or MSP Owner.
- Ensure assigned onsite tasks are completed properly or escalated where required.
Minimum Requirements
- Must have own transport.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must stay in Pretoria.
- Must be fluent in Afrikaans, including reading, writing, and speaking.
- Must be able to communicate in English.
- The interview will be conducted in both Afrikaans and English.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of Windows computers and Microsoft 365.
- Basic networking knowledge including IP addresses, Wi-Fi, switches, routers, and cabling.
- Ability to troubleshoot common user issues.
- Willingness to learn MSP tools, firewalls, Wi-Fi systems, and client support processes.
- Good communication skills with clients and team members.
- Ability to follow instructions and escalate when needed.
- Good attention to detail when documenting work.
Preferred Knowledge
- CompTIA A+ or N+ knowledge.
- Basic Microsoft 365 administration.
- Basic UniFi or Wi-Fi troubleshooting.
- Basic understanding of firewalls such as pfSense, Sophos, or Meraki.
- Experience with Freshdesk or AnyDesk would be beneficial.

Success in This Role
The Junior IT Technician will be successful when client site visits are completed reliably, support tickets are handled quickly and clearly, users are assisted professionally, and technical issues are escalated before they become bigger problems.
Pay: R8 500,00 - R10 000,00 per month
