You collaborate and guide divisional teams to develop and activate the necessary programs to support their strategic sourcing requirements in different locations.
Qualifications: Postgraduate Degree with preference in Development, Economics, Supply Chain or General Business
6 - 8 years experience in Supply Chain/ Retail/ Commercial/ Clothing and Textile Industry
The ideal candidate will have specific knowledge of the Retail value chain/supply chain and/or industry development, BBBEE regulations, and an understanding of the commercial and sustainable development requirements of a retailer and its value chain (upstream)
Responsibilities: Research & Innovation
1. Research and keep abreast of industry best practice and economic developments to identify new standards, methods & processes to improve supplier and value chain performance.
2. Analyse new and existing processes within the value chain to provide insights and present business cases on innovation, risk mitigation and process optimisation.
Stakeholder Engagement
1. Engage in and facilitate engagements with internal and external stakeholders such as government and/or industry bodies, to understand business, industry developments and regulatory requirements that impact suppliers and influence decision-making at a senior management level.
2. In collaboration with divisions, engage with suppliers to facilitate performance improvement of supplier grading and social/environmental compliance and good practice.
3. Report to internal and external stakeholders on progress against value chain development and localisation objectives
Conceptualise, Design and Deliver Value Chain Programmes
1. Conceptualise and design programmes that support the supplier development and localisation objectives. This includes programmes aimed at: (a) transforming the local supplier base, promoting competitive local and regional procurement (b) promoting supplier performance improvement (environmental, social and commercial) and (c) identifying opportunities for value chain optimisation and improved sustainability.
2. Track and/or develop measurement indicators to assess the performance of the programmes against the stated objectives.
Value Chain Performance Analytics and Reportings
1. Maintain and develop the supplier grading methodology incorporating a balanced scorecard of indicators tracking social, environmental and economic performance
2. In collaboration with technology and data specialists, maintain and develop supplier performance analytical tools that provide intelligence for divisions and enable performance improvement.
3. Prepare supplier development inserts for quarterly Board reports as well as Annual Integrated and B-BBEE reports.
Programme Implementation
1. Collaborate and implement value chain development programmes from inception to completion to ensure delivery within timing and budget. This includes testing, prototyping, process creation, integration testing, monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
2. Manage the B-BBEE supplier development loan programme, which involves selecting recipients, achieving compliance, contracting and issuing loans, ensuring repayment and maintaining oversight of the finance facility.
3. Ensure that completed projects are fully understood/implemented by divisions by creating frameworks / roll-out plans, training and handover documents.
4. Manage the allocated budgets for supplier development, B-BBEE spend and supplier loan facility. Ensure that expenses are responsibly managed and in line with the agreed budget.
Contract Management
1. In collaboration with legal team, identify contract requirements and manage contracted parties in line with group policies and procedures.
2. Working with the legal team, develop supplier contracts to ensure adherence to sustainability values & BBBEE requirements in line with the required performance targets.
