Production Manager
Purpose of the Position
The Production Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all operational activities relating to the manufacturing and dispatch of elevator products.
The role ensures projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with company quality standards, statutory requirements, and customer expectations.
The Production Manager will oversee manufacturing staff, manage resources, ensure optimal productivity, limited material wastage and reworks, ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Oversee all manufacturing and logistic activities.
- Plan and allocate staff and resources effectively.
- Ensure jobs are completed according to agreed deadlines.
- Monitor operational performance and productivity.
- Ensure efficient utilization of vehicles, tools, equipment, and labour.
Team Leadership
- Manage factory, stores and logistic staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations of factory staff.
- Identify training and development needs.
- Maintain discipline and adherence to company procedures.
Project Management
- Manage elevator production from planning phase to dispatch/delivery to site.
- Coordinate with clients, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure that manufacturing takes place to the required standard, in line with client specifications, quality requirements and within the stipulated timelines.
- Monitor project budgets and profitability.
- Ensure project milestones are achieved.
- Resolve project-related challenges and delays.
Quality Management
- Implement quality control measures.
- Conduct regular quality inspections and audits.
- Ensure compliance with company standards and specifications.
Health & Safety Compliance
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and all applicable regulations.
- Promote a strong safety culture and conduct safety inspections.
- Ensure staff follow safety procedures and use PPE correctly.
- Investigate incidents and implement preventative measures.
Financial Responsibilities
- Manage operational budgets.
- Control labour and material costs.
- Monitor productivity and profitability.
Resource Management
- Coordinate procurement requirements.
- Monitor fleet and equipment utilization.
Strategic Growth
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
Minimum Requirements
Education
Advantageous:
- National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Management, Operations Management, Project Management, or a related field.
Experience
Essential:
- Minimum 3–5 years in a production management or supervisory role.
Advantageous
- Experience within the lift/elevator industry.
- Experience in installation, repairs or production of elevator products.

Remuneration
