Bookkeeper
Location: Southern Suburbs, Cape Town
An established transport and logistics company is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team.
Working closely with the Director, this role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing management information, supporting month-end processes, and assisting with various administrative functions that support the smooth running of the business.
This position is based in a small office environment and requires an individual who is self-motivated, highly organised, able to work independently, and comfortable taking ownership of their responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintaining the general ledger and financial records
- Preparation and submission of VAT, EMP201
- Fuel levy calculations and submissions
- Fixed asset register maintenance and depreciation calculations
- Preparation of month-end journals and reconciliations
- Assisting with monthly management accounts and financial reporting
- Office Administration
- Preparation of schedules and supporting documentation for external accountants
- Assisting with year-end audit and annual financial statement preparation
- Fleet card administration, reconciliations and reporting
- Maintaining insurance schedules and assisting with policy administration and claims documentation
- Assisting with payroll administration and HR-related documentation
- Liaising with accountants, auditors, insurers, financial institutions and service providers
- Assisting the Director with financial reporting and compliance
Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a bookkeeping or finance role
- Relevant bookkeeping, accounting or finance qualification
- Strong understanding of VAT, payroll taxes and financial reporting
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with accounting software - Sage Online
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
- Own reliable transport

Salary: R 17 500 - R 20 000
Experience:
- BBBEE: 3 years (Preferred)
- Financial : 5 years (Preferred)
- Workmans Compensation: 3 years (Preferred)
- Sage Accounting: 3 years (Preferred)
