We are looking for an experienced Steel Fixer with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in civil and structural construction projects.
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years proven steel fixing experience
Must Reside in Pietermaritzburg
Ability to read, understand, and interpret reinforcement (rebar) drawings
Knowledge of reinforcement schedules and bar bending schedules (BBS)
Experience with foundations, bases, columns, beams, slabs, retaining walls, and bridge structures
Ability to measure, cut, bend, place, and tie reinforcement accurately
Understanding of construction drawings and specifications
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Knowledge of construction health and safety requirements
Physically fit and able to work under pressure
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret reinforcement drawings and schedules.
- Set out and install reinforcement according to approved drawings.
- Ensure correct spacing, cover, laps, and anchorage lengths are achieved.
- Work closely with site supervisors, foremen, and engineers.
- Maintain high standards of safety and quality on site.
- Identify drawing discrepancies and report them to management.
- Assist with concrete pour preparations and inspections.
