Manitou SOUTHERN AFRICA (MSA)
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
With a direct report to the Engineering & Services Director, this position will manage and lead the technical/product support team, and related activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Ensuring that Manitou South Africa’s customer/engineering projects are delivered on time, to the required quality standard (physical work and customer signoff), and customer satisfaction.
· Make informed decisions on technical queries, and warranties both internally & from customers.
· Responsible for managing technical & operator training with a focus on increasing the revenue streams within the department.
· Develop a strategy to assist with dealer development specifically with regards to technical capability thereby enabling a long-term pipeline to drive sales.
· Maintenance of organizational KPIs on the dealer ticket system, 8x8 assist line, and warranties.
· Managing the “War Room” function (telematics control centre) to improve machine availability within the MEA Region.
· Ability to utilize SolidWorks to conceptualize machine attachments and create fabrication drawings.
· Management of Fleet vehicles (Maintenance, replacement, and breakdowns).
· Manage a team of employees responsible for the maintenance of office buildings and gardens.
· To ensure that the facilities plant and machinery are available and reliable.
· Budgeting in line with group procedures to ensure cost saving in areas of responsibility.

EDUCATION:
· Engineering Diploma or Degree
· Project Management Qualification (PMP, CAPM) or equivalent advantageous
EXPERIENCE:
- 5 Years’ Experience in a similar role or proven Machinery OEM experience
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
- Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, critical thinking, and ability to fault find (problem-solving skills).
- Superior technical skills, ability to read hydraulic, and electrical schematics, and a strong grasp of mechanical equipment.
- A People management skill, the ability to work with people at various levels from the shop floor to senior management
- Computer literacy with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and advanced Excel. Project Planning software is a bonus.
- Quality and productivity-focused.
- Must have a deep understanding of systems and processes, combining critical thinking with industry expertise to ensure that proposed solutions are of sound integrity and fit requirements.
- Ability to supervise people, sub-contractors, and resource planning skills. Self-driven, and ability to think proactively.
- Commercial and legal Astuteness
INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONNECTIONS:
- Internal interactions: Works in partnership with almost all departments of the Headquarters to ensure close alignment
- External interactions: Represents the company as appropriate in its relationships with major customers, suppliers, competitors, government agencies, professional societies, and similar groups.
LOCATION & EXPECTED TRAVEL:
· This position is based in Chloorkop, Proton Industrial Park, South Africa.
· Travel into Africa, and potentially travel into Europe for meetings
