This role is a junior supervisory position, reporting to a foreman or Operations manager, and is responsible for leading a team of technicians while remaining hands-on with technical work. The chargehand ensures quality workmanship, manages workflow, and upholds safety standards
Qualification and Experience
- Matric
- A valid electrical trade certificate
- An electrician wireman’s license (advantageous).
- 3 to 5 years proven experience as a technician
- At least 1 year prior supervisory or team leader experience
Skills and competencies
- Strong diagnostic and repair skills, as well as the ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and mentoring abilities to guide a team effectively.
- Strong planning and time management to handle multiple priorities and ensure efficient workflow.
- The ability to ensure accurate work, inspect jobs thoroughly, and maintain proper documentation.
- The ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various workshop and field conditions.
