A long-established and respected property services company based in the Cape Town CBD is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Accountant to join our finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who can manage a diverse range of accounting and bookkeeping responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and reconcile payments, bank accounts and supplier accounts.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, cash flow reports, and budget performance reports.
- Manage VAT, PAYE, UIF, income tax, and other statutory submissions and payments.
- Assist with payroll processing, employee wage payments, and payslip generation.
- Review invoices, allocations, and VAT treatment to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare audit files, liaise with auditors, and assist with annual financial statement processes.
- Support property management staff with finance-related queries.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls.
- Assist with ad hoc financial projects, reporting, and analysis as required.
Requirements
- Relevant bookkeeping, accounting, or finance qualification.
- Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably within the property management industry.
· Ability to take books to trial balance and interpret financial statements
- Strong reconciliation, reporting, and financial administration skills.
- Experience with accounting software (WeconnectU and MDA/MRI experience advantageous).
- Knowledge of VAT, payroll, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
