Driver Code 08 / Forklift Driver / Warehouse Assistant needed for Deliveries and Collections
VetServ is a registered pharmaceutical wholesale, warehousing and distribution company specializing in the veterinary field.
Established in 1990, we are a proudly South African company that supplies pharmaceuticals, products and equipment, as well as premium pet food and accessories, to the veterinary industry.
Our team of experts is looking for a passionate and driven driver to join the Absolute Pets family at the Cape Town warehouse based in Killarney Gardens.
The ideal candidate must:
- Be a South African citizen
- Have a Matric Certificate or equivalent
- Have an unendorsed valid code 8 South African drivers licence
- Have a valid forklift licence
- Have a minimum 5 years driving experience in capacity of code 08 drivers licence. Be an experienced Forklift Driver with Licence
- Be honest, ethical and have integrity
- Be energetic, fit and healthy (as some of the deliveries require some heavy lifting).
- Be able to speak, read and write in English and Afrikaans (i.e. The ability to read and interpret documents such as orders, quotations, emails, post instruction manuals etc. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence).
- Have good organisational, administrative and time management skills, be presentable, able to interact with clients and be able to work in a fast moving high pressure environment.
- Must be able to prioritize tasks and handle multiple tasks and/or projects simultaneously.
- Be able to think on their feet and adapt to change quickly.
- Have a good knowledge of roads and routes in and around the Cape
The Job Description will include:
- Driving duties
- Loading and unloading own vehicle
- Delivering and collecting goods
- Check order thoroughly when loading and unloading goods against the invoices provided, ensuring the correct order is received & collected.
- Be presentable and act in a professional manner while conducting deliveries and collections
- Provide an effective communication link between customers and the company.
- Operate the company vehicle in a safe and considerate manner
- Drive vehicle to and from destinations, adhering to traffic laws.
- Fuel the assigned vehicle and inspect vehicle daily for safety, fuel, oil and water before departure.
- Keep the company vehicle clean inside and outside and maintain vehicle in good working condition and inform supervisor of any vehicle problems
- Read and interpret maps and driving directions to plan the most efficient route to the delivery and collection points
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets, vehicle maintenance, fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports and other records that are requested from management.
- General warehouse work
- Picking and packing of orders
- Reporting breakages
- Cleaning of designated areas as per the cleaning rosters
- General administration, record keeping and filing etc
