Purpose:
To receive, arrive, assist, and direct the patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. Provide general assistance to the centre team and answer enquiries regarding activities conducted within NHC centre. Project a positive ad friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
Key Performance Indicators
- Welcoming persons entering establishment, determine the nature and purpose of visit and direct them to specific destinations.
- Scheduling appointments and keep those appointments as per requirements (on time)
- Assist customers with completing necessary forms and documentation.
- Comforting distressed patients – this may range from simply fixing any appointment issues that may arise, through to being the voice of comfort during times of extreme stress and emergency.
- Processing billing and payments using medical software (GoodX)
- Capture patients’ information on the electronical system and related medical software
- Confirm HealthID permission per doctor.
- Maintain and update professionals’ appointment calendars (appointment changes, messages, etc.)
- Keeping a clean and calm reception area.
- File and maintain records as per filing standard requirements.
- To comply with all relevant centre procedures, regulations and protocols and to maintain confidentiality at all times with particular reference to patient records.
Qualifications:
Matric
Office Administration/Secretarial qualification (NQF Level 3)
2-3 years’ experience in similar receptionist role
1-2 years' dentistry experience
GoodX experience will be an added advantage.
Computer literacy (MS Packages, PaySpace)

Ability to build professional relationships with doctors and patients in promoting patient-doctor interaction.
Ability to work under pressure.
