Estimator Position – Imvubu Steel
(Structural Steel, Balustrading, Staircases, Gates and General Steel Fabrication)
About the Role
Imvubu Steel is a growing structural steel and fabrication company based in Ballito. We are looking for a full-time, permanent Estimator to join our team, with an immediate start. The Estimator provides accurate, profitable estimates on time, with a clear bill of quantities and scope of work for our customers, working at all times with integrity and honesty.
Responsibilities
•
Analyse and interpret drawings, bills of quantities and project documentation to estimate structural steel, fabrication and manufacturing projects.
•
Prepare detailed, accurate estimates of time, cost, labour and materials, with backup documentation for review.
•
Contact suppliers to obtain material and equipment pricing, and keep up to date with current steel prices to stay competitive.
•
Conduct site visits when necessary to assess project conditions.
•
Assist admin with written quotations and meet quote submission deadlines set by customers.
•
Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, architects and engineers, and respond promptly to their needs.
•
Manage time effectively, prioritise tasks and represent the Company with professionalism, accuracy and a commitment to quality.
Requirements
•
Ability to read and summarise a bill of quantities from architectural, workshop and engineering drawings.
•
A minimum of 3 years' estimating experience in the steel industry preferred.
•
Strong numerical skills and high attention to detail.
•
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
•
Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
•
Must pass background checks and sign a non-disclosure agreement, as the role involves sensitive company intellectual property.
Working Hours
•
Monday to Thursday: 07:00 – 16:30
•
Friday: 07:00 – 15:30
Remuneration:
A competitive, market-related salary will be offered, negotiable based on qualifications and relevant experience.
