LABORATORY MANAGER – COAL LABORATORY
SA Minerals Laboratories Ithuba is seeking an experienced and motivated Laboratory Manager to join our growing team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing laboratory operations, ensuring quality compliance, leading laboratory personnel, and maintaining high standards of analytical performance within a coal testing environment.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a coal laboratory environment.
- Strong understanding of coal analytical methods and laboratory operations.
- Experience with Quality Management Systems.
- Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
- Experience with SANAS-accredited laboratories will be advantageous.
- Proven leadership and people management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
- Valid driver's license.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day laboratory operations.
- Supervise and develop laboratory staff.
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and operational requirements.
- Maintain and improve Quality Management Systems.
- Manage proficiency testing, quality control, and laboratory comparisons.
- Ensure analytical results are accurate, reliable, and delivered within agreed turnaround times.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory.
- Liaise with clients and operational stakeholders where required.

- Coal sample preparation and analysis.
- Laboratory quality assurance and quality control.
- SANAS accreditation requirements.
- Internal auditing experience.
- Staff training and competency management.
- Strong computer and reporting skills.
