We require the services of an experienced Health and Safety Officer to join the team. The incumbent will play a crucial role in preventing workplace incidents and promoting Safety awareness among employees. Drive continuous improvement in the Health and Safety department by ensuring operations legal compliance and implementation of audits. Food safety regulations are standardised for compliance throughout each step of the food chain from production, storage and distribution, to sale and service of the consumer and must include regulations for receiving, re-packing, food storage, preparation and cooking, cooling and re-heating, displaying.

- Conduct accident investigations, determine immediate and basic causes.
- Carryout Risk Assessments
- Carry out inspections (Planned and Ad-hoc) and report findings and determine the Hazard Classification (A, B, C)
- Ensure that all employees who carryout identified hazardous tasks have received the correct training
- Ensure that Planned Task Observations (PTOs) are carried out as per legislation
- Ensure that all legal appointments have been completed as per statutory requirements
- Supervise, monitor and analyze the incidents records to identify trends and provide advice
- Demonstrate leadership, innovation & commitment
- Ability to produce high volume of work in a timely manner which is accurate and of high quality
- Interpersonal & communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong financial / business acumen & understanding of food cost and labour efficiencies
- Strong client and customer service skills
- Basic knowledge of the applicable standards (ISO 9001:2000 – 18001 – 14001 and related occupational health and safety laws
- Ability to motivate, develop and coach staff at all levels
- Excellent Organising, Planning and Innovative skills
- Must be willing to work long working hours
- Relevant Tertiary Qualification plus appropriate Risk Management Certificate: NOSA (Intro-SAMTRAC) / COMSOC / NADSAM/ NEBOSH or equivalent
- 5- 6 years Operational experience
- Basic knowledge of: Hospitality Catering / Hostels Catering / Fast Food Outlets / Food Preparation and Processing
