Assistant Conferencing & Events Manager

As our Assistant Conferencing & Events Manager, you are an inspiring, empowering and results-orientated leader with a passion for service excellence whilst maintaining standards and meeting or exceeding financial goals.
You will facilitate the communication and implementation of deliverables and forecasted events and business, as well as consolidate and track timelines, plans and cost estimates for various events in consultation with various team members.
Delighting our guests by offering trendsetting, innovative ideas and outstanding service experiences will form part of your role. Your duties will include reviewing and managing the processing of quotes, contracts and function sheets to ensure quality standards. Assessing and managing venue inventory to evaluate event business across conferencing and event facilities and maximise revenues will form part of this role.
You will oversee the coordination and management of pre-conference meetings, site inspections, and feedback information to relevant stakeholders to ensure that business leads are solidified. Ensuring staff are trained and can offer world-class service to our guests is important to this role. You will lead a team of people, encouraging teamwork and personal accountability and promoting staff engagement and retention.
Managing staff processes such as personal presentation, recruitment, performance and conduct, and operations management through attention to detail, leading staff from the frontline and meeting guest expectations through a hands-on approach, will form part of your responsibilities.
You have a Matric Certificate with a relevant tertiary qualification from a recognised South African or International Educational Institution would be advantageous as well as a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role in a busy, high-demand environment and experience in utilising Opera.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to showcase your dedication to quality and accuracy. Your ability to remain decisive and perform under pressure will be crucial as you delegate tasks.
