Position Overview
To provide effective and efficient HR business partnering support to Operation Department such that Managers and Operational staff are guided, sponsored, and supported through the human resources processes. Support Executive Head: Human Capital on HR initiatives that address the value of human performance in the context of school functions to harness optimal workforce potential. This can help to maximize positive experiences in the employment life cycle, which include but are not limited to recruitment, onboarding , employee engagement , retention and exit management.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or Matric
- National Diploma Human Resources Management or relevant qualification
- Degree in Human Resources Management will be advantageous.
- SAGE, VIP, SAP certificate
- Driver’s license

Preferred skills and experience
- A minimum of 5 years HR experience
- HR experience in Private or International school will be an added advantage.
- Sound understanding of the HR role and its evolution in the workplace.
- Sound knowledge of the South African Labour Laws
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with the Unions
- Excellent administrative skills and experience
- Strong mediation and negotiation skills
- Sound emotional intelligence traverses’ cross-cultural diversity
- Experience in VIP or Sage Payroll

Performance responsibilities:
Recruitment and selection
- Support faculty on recruitment process (Advert, Interviews, and the entire onboarding process)
- Ensure the coordination of the mobilisation and demobilisation process for expats employees.
- Support faculty during contract renewal and administrate letter of intends.
- Work with Principals to screen teaching candidates, plan and direct a program for selection and assignment of the best qualified personnel where and when appropriate.
Payroll and Administration
- Ensure proper employee filing updates.
- Ensure insurance cover and awareness to all Operational staff.
- Ensure payroll input is accurate, authorized and submitted in time.
- Ensure that utilities are paid timeously and deducted via payroll. Provide information and support during the payroll audit.
HR Business Partnering
- Facilitate positive and harmonious engagement between management and their staff through effective staff meetings and process in Operations.
- Provide IR support and advise to Operation line management from time to time
- Ensure low staff turnover thereby maintaining high staff morale
- Guide and mentor line management to ensure healthy people practices in the workplace
- Facilitate engagement between school and the union arranging meetings, taking minutes and maintaining records
- Guide the Line management on disciplinary issues and processes, including but not limited to, conducting investigations, collecting and compiling evidence, weighing the gravity of the misconduct and presenting the case during disciplinary hearing
- Represent the school at CCMA in the conciliation processes and occasionally during Arbitration process
- Facilitate the incapacity processes, including counselling sessions due to poor performance and/or consultation due to ill-health.
- Facilitate the recruitment process including, advertising, screening, attending interviews and assist in the offering
- Sensitise line management on the EE Plans and Targets
- Record and report on probationary reviews and play an active role on termination or extension of probation
- Facilitate the onboarding process and ensure proper engagement of the newly appointed employee
- Facilitate internal staff movement within various departments in the school.
- Ensure that each employee has the Individual Development Plan or forms part of the Team Development Plan
- Attend regular meetings and serve actively to improve communication, cooperation, and planning.
- Provide information and support to management concerning HR – Ops matters.
- Be available to all staff and/or managers for general consultation purposes on both Campuses.
- Ensure that Operational staff are aware of the HR procedures and guide them during the process.
- Ensure that all employees are covered from medical aid, life cover, funeral etc.
- Facilitate performance management activities, including ensuring that annual performance scorecards are discussedand agreed upon at the beginning of the school year
- Record mid-year reviews and final performance reviews
- Work closely with line management in the establishment and maintenance of succession plans
- Support the Executive Head: Human Capital with business agility of the HR office so that this office support effectively other departments in the school.
- Coordinate and enhance legal compliance of the faculty to the HR governance and ethical standards.
- Ensure that all employees have their employment contracts on their personal files
- Serve as liaison between employees and insurance benefit providers for medical, life and disability insurance
- Coordinate the wellness days for all Operational staff
- Set and coordinate induction for all new recruits joining the school.
Policies and Procedures
- Drive HR policies awareness and educate Ops staff on different HR policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and keep current the HR pages of the AISJ website update in relations to Operations.
- Other duties may be assigned.
