Job Purpose:
To lead and manage the organisation’s public relations, corporate communications and digital presence, with specific accountability for the strategic positioning, content, functionality and performance of the corporate website. The role is responsible for strengthening the organisation’s brand reputation, ensuring consistent and credible communication across internal and external platforms, and using digital channels to enhance stakeholder engagement, visibility and business growth. The Manager: PR & Website will develop and execute integrated PR and digital communication strategies, manage media and stakeholder relationships, oversee website content and optimisation, and ensure that all communications reflect the organisation’s brand, strategic priorities, values and professional standards. The role will also monitor communication and digital performance, identify opportunities to enhance the organisation’s market presence, and proactively manage reputational risks.
Key Responsibilities
Thought Leadership Management
- Develop and drive a thought leadership content calendar for Group executives and subsidiary MDs, ensuring quarterly coverage of at least 80% of Operating Value Propositions (OVPs).
- Draft, edit and place opinion articles, white papers and bylined content in national, regional and trade publications, contributing to a minimum of 6M+ monthly PR reach.
- Secure a minimum of 3 media commentary opportunities per month and 2 advertorials per quarter through proactive media targeting.
- Identify and secure speaking, panel and conference opportunities that build executive and brand authority, including at least 2 high-impact speaking engagements per quarter.
- Host at least one knowledge-sharing webinar per quarter, achieving a minimum of 80% attendance, to build thought leadership capability across the Group.
- Coordinate contributions from subject matter experts across the Group to ensure a consistent flow of publishable content.
- Build and maintain relationships with editors, journalists and industry bodies to secure thought leadership placement.
Public Relations and Media Management
- Develop and implement PR strategies and campaigns aligned to Group and subsidiary objectives.
- Write and edit press releases, media statements, speeches and newsletters.
- Monitor public and media sentiment toward Ntiyiso and produce monthly media coverage reports.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with national, regional and trade media.
- Manage crisis communication and protect brand reputation across all media channels.
- Plan, coordinate and oversee media interviews, press events and photo opportunities.
- Design, develop and deliver media training material and workshops for subsidiary MDs and management to build confidence and consistency in handling media enquiries and interviews.
- Produce a minimum of 2 client-approved case studies per quarter (8 annually), evidencing on-time, on-budget project delivery.
- Coordinate and distribute quarterly client satisfaction surveys, achieving a minimum 70% response rate.
Website Management and Supervision
- Own website content strategy, ensuring accuracy, relevance and alignment to brand and CI.
- Update a minimum of 3 to 4 website sections monthly, by the 5th of each month, maintaining zero critical errors.
- Drive year-on-year growth in website traffic, targeting at least 10%, through an approved digital content and thought leadership strategy.
- Supervise website design, layout and functionality to maintain a positive user experience.
- Direct and quality-assure the work of web development suppliers and agencies.
- Implement and oversee SEO strategies to improve visibility, ranking and organic traffic.
- Manage the website update calendar, including new content, case studies and thought leadership publications.
Analytics and Reporting
- Track and report on thought leadership and PR performance against quarterly targets, including OVP coverage, media reach, share of voice and sentiment.
- Monitor and report on website analytics, including traffic, engagement, conversion, SEO performance and monthly update compliance.
- Compile monthly and quarterly PR, thought leadership and website performance dashboards for the Head of Marketing and Business Development.
- Maintain and report on the digital asset library, ensuring quarterly updates and reuse of approved marketing assets.
- Translate analytics into clear insights and recommendations to inform ongoing PR, content and website strategy.
Supervision and Team Support
- Supervise and quality-assure PR, thought leadership and website deliverables produced by junior team members, interns and external agencies, ensuring a minimum of 90% of deliverables are produced internally.
- Maintain the departmental project tracker, ensuring 100% on-time delivery of assigned PR, thought leadership and website deliverables.
- Identify at least two cost-saving opportunities per quarter across PR, content and website delivery, keeping outsourced spend within approved budget thresholds.
- Coach and mentor junior marketing staff on writing, media engagement and digital analytics.
- Manage day-to-day relationships with PR, media and web development suppliers and contractors.
General Marketing
- Support the implementation of the broader Group marketing and communications strategy.
- Contribute to marketing collateral, campaigns and events as required.
- Undertake general marketing administration and reporting.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification in Communications/ Journalism or Public Relations/ Humanities or related fields.
- Post Graduate Qualification in the same fields will be advantageous.
- 6 to 8 years' experience in public relations, thought leadership, communications or digital marketing, including demonstrated website and analytics/reporting exposure.
- Prior experience supervising junior staff, freelancers or agencies is advantageous.
