Job Title: Intermediate Life Support

JOB SUMMARY
To coordinate and execute the care of patients within the scope of Life Support scope of practice.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications

Matric
-
Intermediate Life Support (ILS) qualification or equivalent
-
CPD compliant with HPCSA
-
Valid PrDP permit
-
Registered with the HPSCA as an ILS
Minimum Experience
-
2 years’ experience in the medical field as an ILS operational medic
-
Drivers Licence with minimum 2 years driving experience
Key Competencies

Emergency rescue and stabilization
-
In-depth knowledge of life saving medical procedures

Comprehensive understanding of emergency medicine
-
Sound knowledge of emergency medical protocols, patient assessment and pharmacology within the ILS scope of practice

DELIVERABLES
-
Ensure patient treatment according to the HPCSA scope of practice, protocols and guidelines.

Responding and staffing ambulances and other emergency vehicles.
-
Assessing patients and providing emergency treatment.
-
Making diagnoses within the scope of practice.
-
Ensuring safe transportation of patients to hospitals and administering emergency medicine.
-
Handover patients to staff at medical facilities.
-
Completion of Declaration of Death forms as per standard operating procedures.
-
Ensure all work is done per standard operating procedures.

Oversee scene management as required at mass casualty incidents.
-
Conduct daily vehicle inspection.
-
Ensure all patient report forms are completed correctly and are up to standard.
-
Facilitate collection of medical reports, records and other relevant forms.
-
Responsible for the care and proper management of Emergency Medical resources.

Provide quality assurance to first responders and Basic Life support medics.
