About 350.org
350.org is building a global grassroots movement to solve the climate crisis. Our online campaigns, grassroots organizing, and mass public actions are led from the bottom up by thousands of volunteer organisers in over 188 countries. 350.org works hard to organise in a new way—everywhere at once, using online tools to facilitate strategic offline action. We want to be a laboratory for the best ways to strengthen the climate movement and catalyse transformation around the world. The values that guide and drive our work are listed here.
350.org is an equal opportunity employer. 350.org strives to be an inclusive and collaborative group of people who bring a variety of approaches to the work we do. We're committed to the principles of justice, and we try to build a safe workplace where everyone is treated fairly and enjoys working together. We value new perspectives, ideas of all sorts, and different ways of working. Diverse perspectives and experiences improve the way 350.org carries out our work – including what we decide to work on and how creatively/effectively we do that. We do our best to make staff positions accessible to all potential team members, regardless of race, national origin, ethnicity, age, disability, assigned gender, gender expression or identity, sexual orientation or identity, religion or creed, veteran status, marital or parental status, and genetic information. We also strive to include team members in communities most impacted by climate change or impacted by other kinds of environmental, social, and economic injustice.
About the Climate Justice Coalition
The Climate Justice Coalition is a coalition of South African trade unions, grassroots, community and non-profit organisations. It is working on advancing a transformative climate justice agenda, which works to tackle inequality, poverty, and unemployment. The coalition advocates for a vision of climate justice which advances environmental, energy, gender, racial, climate, and economic justice together. The coalition aims to advance the struggle for climate justice using a combination of litigation, advocacy, education, training, mobilising, organising, campaigning, and non-violent direct action. The coalition's strength lies in our diversity both in terms of our member base and in terms of bringing together our different tactics to collectively advance climate justice.
The coalition is led by a secretariat and steering committee and has a diverse array of members working on a variety of social, labour, health, environmental, energy, education, gender, human rights, and climate justice issues. You can view a list of members on our website: ClimateJusticeCoalition.org. The coalition meets as a full coalition once a month. In addition, we work through task team structures. We currently have four different task forces focused on energy and mining justice, legal advocacy, economic justice, and communications. Education is also a cross-cutting responsibility of the coalition.
About the Climate Justice Coalition Coordinator
The CJC coordinator will help coordinate the work of the coalition towards realising it's objectives, both in leading specific projects and helping coordinate the coalition as a whole. The coordinator would aim to ensure the coalition is inclusive, and that coalition partners are able to input into the strategic direction and work of the coalition easily, and that information about the work of the coalition is easily available to partners.
