We are seeking an experienced Film Coating Operator to join our Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) Manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on operator with pharmaceutical manufacturing experience and a strong understanding of film coating processes. Based on operational requirements, the successful candidate may also be required to support tablet compression activities following the necessary training.
The Role
The Film Coating Operator will be responsible for the setup, operation and monitoring of film coating equipment, ensuring that products are coated safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved Batch Manufacturing Records (BMRs), GMP requirements and company procedures.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining product quality, achieving production targets and ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate film coating equipment in accordance with approved procedures and production schedules.
- Prepare coating materials and solutions according to manufacturing instructions.
- Monitor coating parameters, equipment performance and product quality throughout the process.
- Conduct in-process quality checks and accurately record results.
- Complete production documentation and equipment logbooks in real time.
- Perform line clearance and equipment cleaning activities.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, GDP, SOPs and company quality standards.
- Report deviations, equipment faults and quality concerns promptly.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, hygiene and workplace safety.
- Provide support to other OSD manufacturing operations as required.
Minimum Requirements
Essential
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Minimum 2-3 years' experience operating film coating equipment within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Experience working within a GMP-regulated environment.
- Experience conducting in-process quality checks.
- Experience completing batch manufacturing documentation.
- Good understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing requirements and procedures.
Advantageous
- Experience within an Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) manufacturing facility.
- Exposure to tablet compression operations.
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing qualification or related technical training.
- Experience participating in audits and inspections.
