We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Operations Manager to take responsibility for the efficient day-to-day running of our operations and ensure reliable, safe and high-quality service delivery to our customers.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperations Management
- Manage and coordinate daily waste collection, rubble removal, garden refuse and recycling operations.
- Plan and monitor routes, schedules, vehicles and operational teams.
- Ensure scheduled services are completed efficiently and on time.
- Resolve operational issues, delays, missed collections and service failures.
- Monitor productivity, service levels and operational costs.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary costs.
Fleet & Equipment
- Oversee the availability, utilisation and maintenance of company vehicles and equipment.
- Monitor fuel usage, vehicle downtime and maintenance requirements.
- Ensure drivers conduct vehicle checks and report defects.
- Coordinate vehicle repairs and maintenance where required.
People Management
- Lead and manage drivers, collection teams and other operational employees.
- Allocate daily duties and monitor attendance, productivity and performance.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, safety and professional conduct.
- Conduct operational briefings and ensure employees follow company procedures.
Customer & Service Management
- Ensure consistent, professional service to domestic, commercial and industrial customers.
- Handle escalated customer complaints and operational queries.
- Investigate and resolve service issues promptly.
- Maintain strong relationships with key customers.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure safe working practices across all operations.
- Ensure appropriate PPE is used and company safety procedures are followed.
- Maintain required operational and safety records.
- Ensure compliance with applicable company and regulatory requirements.
Experience & Requirements
Essential:
- 5 years' experience in operations management or a senior operational supervisory role.
- Proven experience managing drivers, field-based teams and daily service operations.
- Experience managing fleet, vehicles, routes and schedules.
- Strong people management and performance management experience.
- Experience managing customer service and operational complaints.
- Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Strong organisational, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Industry experience – highly advantageous:
- Waste management / waste collection

- Rubble removal / skip hire
- Construction
- Facilities or cleaning services
Direct experience managing waste collection vehicles, drivers, collection routes, recycling operations or similar field-based services will be particularly advantageous.
Pay: Up to R20 000,00 per month
