Attention all Legal Eagles!
We are in a hunt for a dedicated Paralegal who will be responsible for obtaining brief instructions and providing basic legal advice to policyholders. This position also includes managing legal helpline calls, referring both calls and written requests to the appropriate departments, and ensuring the public receives the necessary services while maintaining a positive image and attitude.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Duties as set out below is not an exhaustive list, and as such any reasonable request made by Law for All or demands that the employer might require due to operations will be the responsibility of a Paralegal to comply with and/or attend to)
✅ Responsible for taking down comprehensive instructions from clients during personal consultations or telephonically, or by receipt of written instructions by letter, email, fax or Freshdesk tickets; and supply immediate basic legal and product advice if required.
✅ Attend to, and assist on, criminal, civil, family and business related matters
✅ Draft new cases on Lawyerly, including all relevant dates and values and verify policy payments history, before commencing with legal assistance.
✅ The Law For All process must be explained in detail to the client as well as the exclusion procedure
✅ Keeping comprehensive and complete legal case files with regular entries and notes as prescribed by the Legal Professional Guidebook
✅ Correspond and liaise verbally and in writing with clients and third parties and thereafter make comprehensive entries in the legal file
✅ Uploading of documents to Lawyerly
✅ Supply regular progress and/or feedback to the clients on their pending files.
✅ Verbal and written interpretation of the law and legal matters and reflection thereof on the files in a comprehensive manner
✅ Research legal relevant topics to remain aware of all current laws in a particular legal scenario
✅ Verification of policy payment history monthly
✅ Organizing referrals/instructions to accredited panel attorneys
✅ Proper administration and management of pending case files; and diarizing system
✅ Attending to call backs to clients, received via Freshdesk, Freshchat or any other client communication portal
✅ Attending to high volumes of calls from our new case lines throughout the day and attend to drafting of cases to be auto-allocated to the relevant legal department. All calls should be answered within the prescribed time frames as per our SLA’s
✅ Attending to Freshchat correspondence with clients within the prescribed time frame. Chats should be attended to and a ticket created for the Legal Advisor/Paralegal to attend to accordingly
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
️ Proficiency in speaking, writing, and understanding two official African languages, with either English or Afrikaans as one or both.
Paralegal certificate/diploma is advantageous.
Computer literacy, excellent communication skills, and initiative.
Excellent team player.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Positive and motivated individual.
Possess the attributes listed under the skills, abilities, and knowledge section.
