We are looking for an experienced and driven Chief Information Security Officer to join our cybersecurity team.The CISO will be responsible for leading our security strategy, strengthening our internal security posture, supporting client engagements, and providing senior cybersecurity leadership across the business.
This role requires someone who is highly accountable, technically strong, commercially aware, and able to communicate confidently with executives, clients, project teams, and technical staff.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and lead ScaryByte’s cybersecurity strategy, governance framework, and security roadmap.
Oversee internal security controls, policies, risk management, compliance, and audit readiness.Provide strategic cybersecurity guidance to clients and support key client engagements.Lead security discussions with executives, stakeholders, and project teams.
Support incident response planning, escalation, and post-incident reviews.Work closely with SOC, threat intelligence, digital forensics, governance, and technical security teams.Ensure security deliverables are completed accurately, professionally, and within agreed timelines.
Identify security risks, gaps, and areas for improvement across internal and client environments.Support tenders, proposals, presentations, and solution design where senior security input is required.
Drive accountability, visibility, and strong communication across security-related workstreams.RequirementsStrong experience in cybersecurity leadership, governance, risk management, and security operations.Experience in a cybersecurity company, MSSP, consulting environment, financial services, government, or regulated environment would be advantageous.Good understanding of security frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, CIS Controls, MITRE ATT&CK, POPIA, and incident response frameworks.
Experience with SOC operations, vulnerability management, threat intelligence, incident response, cloud security, endpoint security, identity and access management, and security architecture.Strong client-facing, reporting, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, teams, and client expectations.
Relevant certifications such as CISSP(mandatory), CISM, CISA, CRISC, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, CCSP, CEH, or GIAC would be beneficial.Personal AttributesHigh level of ownership and accountability.
