The purpose of the role is to provide direction on the development and management of an effective ISO9001 Quality Management System (QMS). This is to ensure that products meet the highest quality standards internationally. The position reports directly to the General Manager: Technology
Minimum Qualifications
- Grade 12 or equivalent;
- Certificate in Quality Management (SAQI, TQM, or similar) non-negotiable; and
- Diploma in engineering (Mechanical or Industrial) a distinct advantage.
Experience Required
- 5 years’ experience in the management of quality systems within a heavy engineering manufacturing environment. Experience in the electrical power industry is an added advantage; and
- 2 years’ experience as a Manager of a Quality Department.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Management System (Responsible)
- Maintenance of ISO9001 certification; through the utilisation of the Quality team, provide direction on the development and management of an effective ISO9001 Quality Management System (QMS);
- Ensure efficient utilisation of resource management tools, to achieve continuous alignment of the Quality Team’s focus with overall business strategic objectives around the QMS;
- Lead the QMS Review process for all Quality processes within the business;
- Establish and manage an active Risk Register to manage risks associated with Quality Management System;
- Assume Lead Auditor responsibilities for ISO 19011 and ISO 9001 compliance to ensure –
- Effective completion of all internal and external (Suppliers) audits to minimise risk to the business;
- Facilitation and administration of all independent external QMS Audits for surveillance and recertification with an external and independent service provider; and
- Management of non-conformances throughout the value chain.
Product Manufacturing:
- Lead the production teams with the development and sign-off of Work Instructions for all areas of production within the business to ensure consistent quality output of products;
- Ensure that production waste is minimised by - the correct measurement, recording and presentation of reject rates;
- the formation and management of effective and up-to-date rework procedures;
- effective management of in-process inspections and testing;
- Ensure that all materials received through the Receiving Warehouse are inspected in line with Inspection and Test Plans guided by the ISO9001 standard before factory release; and
- Ensure that all materials dispatched through the Finished Goods’ Warehouse are inspected in line with Inspection and Test Plans guided by the ISO9001 standard before dispatch to customers.
Leadership
- Administer annual performance appraisals with the Quality Department
- Identify gaps from the Quality team and develop structured Individual Development Plans (IDP) to address competence challenges within the team; and
- As one of the custodians of Code of Conduct; motivate, guide and discipline (as the case may be) to encourage acceptable conduct with the team.
Sales and Marketing (Support)
- Compilation of all Quality submissions relating to customer enquiries and tenders.
Pay: R38 424,00 - R52 132,00 per month
