THE ROLE

Santam is looking for a passionate and energetic individual for a position as Technical Accounting Officer who will be based in Glacier Place, Bellville. This exciting opportunity is available within Santam RE: Reinsurance Inwards Accounting

WHAT WILL YOU DO

We are looking for an individual with strong analytical skills and the ability to build good relationships. The successful incumbent’s main responsibility will entail executing the financial aspects of reinsurance, including the processing and accounting of reinsurance transactions, performing controls and resolving accounting queries with clients.

WHAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL

Manage and maintain accurate financial records related to reinsurance transactions.
Perform regular reconciliations of reinsurance accounts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies. Reconcile reinsurance balances with counterparties, including reinsurers and brokers.
Liaise with internal departments, such as underwriting, claims, and finance, to gather necessary information for accurate reinsurance accounting. Communicate with external parties, including reinsurers and brokers, to resolve any issues or discrepancies.
Maintain an accurate record of collections and payments corresponding to the Reinsurance technical accounts.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

BCom Accounting
Reinsurance experience (preferred)
Completed Articles – SAIPA or SAICA or CIMA
Minimum 3 years related experience
