JOB SCOPE
National SU&C Manager willbe responsible forplanning, coordinating, and managing construction projects
frominceptionthrough tocompletion.Therolerequires managingmultidisciplinary professional teams, ensuring projectsare
delivered on time, within budget, andinaccordance withquality, safety, and regulations. Ability to manage staff. The
incumbent will overseeproject planning, consultant coordination,procurement processes, reportingand construction
implementation while ensuring compliancewith relevant industry standards and statutory regulations.
Core duties and responsibilities include:
- Plan, manage, and coordinate construction projects from projectinitiation to completion.
- Develop and manage projectprogrammes, budgets, and deliverables.
- Monitorproject performance against scope, scheduleand costobjectives.
- Identifyproject risks and implementmitigation strategies.
- Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary professional teams including architects, engineers. Quantity surveyors, and specialist consultants.
- Facilitate design coordination meetings and ensure alignment between disciplines.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, and relevant stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support procurement processes for professional services and contractors.
- Assist in preparing project documentation including scopes of work, tender documentation, and contracts.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Oversee construction activities to ensure adherence to approved designs, specifications, and quality standards.
- Monitor construction progress and address project delays or challenges.
- Review and approve contractor progress reports and payment certification where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, building codes, and health and safety requirements.
- Ensure projects align with relevant professional council guidelines andindustrybest practices.
- Maintainaccurateproject documentation and reporting.
- Prepare and present project progress reports to management and stakeholders.
- Provide regular updates onproject status, risks, and financial performance
Minimum
- Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in construction project management.
- Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary professional teams on construction projects.
- Experience in coordinating consultants and managing project delivery.
- Ability to resolve problems in a timely and consistent manner.
- Strong communication skills
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office & MS Projects)
- Ability to communicate in English and (at least two) other South African language.
- Ability to manage staff.
Advantageous
- Experience with brownfield upgrades, refurbishments, or community infrastructure projects.
- Working knowledge of construction health and safety regulations.
- Registered Candidate Construction Project Manager with the SACPCMP (South African Council for the Project
and Construction Management Professions).
