The purpose of this role is project stakeholder engagement and policy and project research focused on scholar transport.
As a Discovery Safe Journeys to School (SJTS) Project Co-Ordinator, Stakeholder Engagement and Research Specialist; you will enhance the knowledge and understanding of policy and its implication for scholar transport of the Discovery SJTS the recruitment and canvassing team to better engage with key stakeholders.
You will review and assess the quality and source of information that will become the basis for the content used for promoting the idea of Safe Journeys to School in local communities and among the key stakeholders in the scholar transport community. You will ensure that such information is fact based, uses credible statistical data and informed by knowledge of the scholar transport ecosystem in SA.
Administration:

Identify the pertinent laws and policy which shapes the scholar transport environment in SA

Together with the Discovery SJTS team confirm or highlight key gaps, challenges and opportunities regarding the implementation which the team should focus on to drive stakeholders’ engagement strategy, project design and possible expansion

Working with the Discovery SJTS recruitment test policy assumptions departmental delivery processes which impact on the team’s ability to recruits

Together with the Discovery SJTS communication and Media, lead, identify and develop content for different stakeholder groups including information for media briefs for project promotion

Undertake Policy research relevant to the Discovery SJTS team to enhance stakeholder and beneficiary engagements

Working with the project lead to identify /revise or confirm impact markers which inform Discovery SJTS M&E reports among others
Beneficiary Services:

Develop fact sheets on different transport topics for different stakeholder groups as identifies by Discovery SJTS team

Prepare presentations on key legal and policy issues in Scholar transport for use of team members for engagement with funder and other key stakeholders

Work with Discovery SJTS recruitment team in the field to recruit scholar transporters
Qualification and Experience:

Post graduate degree
-
At least 10 years of work

At least 4 years in the area of transport
