We are looking for an energetic, reliable, technically minded, and hands-on Photo Booth Team Leader & Technician to join our growing team. This role combines event operations, technical support, equipment maintenance, logistics coordination, team leadership, AI product development, and customer interaction.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring our events run smoothly, our equipment remains in excellent condition, and our clients receive exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
Event Operations
- Transport photo booth equipment to and from event venues.
- Set up, test, operate, and break down photo booth equipment at events.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to clients and guests.
- Create a fun, engaging experience for guests while maintaining a professional image.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during events.
- Ensure all events are delivered to the highest operational and customer service standards.
- Support other Photo Booth Operators when required.
- Assist with quality control and event preparation to ensure smooth event execution.
Equipment & Technical Management
- Take ownership of the maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of all photo booth equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance, preventative maintenance, and quality checks on all equipment.
- Diagnose and repair equipment faults where possible and escalate major repairs when required.
- Ensure all software and hardware systems are functioning correctly.
- Prepare, test, charge, clean, and inspect all equipment before events.
- Maintain records of equipment issues, repairs, maintenance schedules, and recurring faults.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to Photo Booth Operators.
- Ensure all photo booth units are fully operational and event-ready at all times.
- Recommend equipment upgrades, replacements, and operational improvements where appropriate.
- Assist in testing new equipment, software, and products before launch.
Inventory & Asset Management
- Monitor stock levels of consumables, spare parts, cables, printers, ink, paper, and operational supplies.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and ensure all equipment is accounted for.
- Notify management of stock requirements and assist with inventory management.
- Ensure equipment is stored safely, correctly, and in an organised manner.
- Assist in maintaining the storage facility to a high operational standard.
- Ultimately assist in ensuring all photo booth equipment remains maintained, operational, and event-ready.
Team Leadership & Training
- Act as the first point of contact for Photo Booth Operators requiring operational or technical support.
- Assist with onboarding and training new operators.
- Help maintain setup guides, training documentation, and operational procedures.
- Lead by example and ensure company standards are consistently upheld.
- Support management in maintaining high levels of service quality and operational excellence.
- Assist with ongoing staff coaching and development.
Product Innovation & AI Photo Booth Development
- Develop, test, and refine AI prompts for our AI Photo Booth experiences to ensure high-quality and engaging results.
- Research industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies.
- Collaborate with management on improving products, services, and customer experiences.
- Conduct quality control testing of new software features and operational systems before launch.
- Assist in documenting new products, processes, and training materials.
Content Creation & Marketing Support
- Capture behind-the-scenes photos and video clips at events for the company's social media and marketing purposes.
- Gather content showcasing photo booth setups, guest interactions, venue installations, and event highlights.
- Collect client and guest testimonials where appropriate.
- Upload and organise marketing content after events.
- Assist in showcasing new products, AI experiences, and event activations through content creation.
Logistics & Administration
- Assist with weekly event preparation and scheduling in collaboration with management.
- Organise and maintain the storage facility to a high standard.
- Upload event photographs and files to cloud storage.
- Conduct quality checks on event images and report any issues.
- Maintain accurate records relating to equipment, stock, repairs, and operational requirements.
- Assist with venue inspections and event preparation where required.
General Operations
- Assist with equipment movement, storage organisation, and operational tasks as required.
- Run occasional business-related errands, including collecting stock, equipment, supplies, or servicing items.
- Assist with the collection and delivery of equipment between venues, suppliers, storage facilities, and offices.
- Support the broader team with ad hoc tasks to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Assist at events during periods of high demand and provide support wherever required.
- Be available for occasional after-hours support should operational issues arise during events.
Requirements
Essential
- Own reliable vehicle (car or bakkie) and a valid driver's licence.
- Reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Woodstock.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable interacting with a wide range of people.
- Good computer literacy and technical aptitude.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working with technology, software, hardware, and AI tools.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Physically capable of lifting and moving event equipment.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and resolve issues independently.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays when required.
Advantageous
- Previous experience in events, hospitality, entertainment, technical support, logistics, or a related field.
- Experience supervising or leading a small team.
- Sales or upselling experience.
- Experience working with photography, computers, printers, AV equipment, or event technology.
- Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT or similar platforms.
- Experience with equipment maintenance, repairs, or troubleshooting.
- An interest in learning about photography.
